Common questions about downloading and installing ClockZen.
ClockZen is currently distributed outside the Mac App Store. To open it, right-click (or Control-click) the app and select 'Open' from the context menu. You'll see a dialog asking if you're sure you want to open it—click 'Open' to proceed. You only need to do this once.
When you first launch ClockZen, macOS will ask for Screen Recording permission. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording, and enable ClockZen. This permission allows the app to see which apps are active for time tracking. Your screen content is never recorded or transmitted.
Yes! Your data syncs automatically between all platforms. Use the desktop app for automatic activity tracking and the web app when you're on the go or using a different device. Both connect to the same account.
The Chrome extension requires an internet connection to sync with your ClockZen account. However, if you temporarily lose connection, it will queue your activity data and sync when you're back online.
The desktop app works with both Free and Pro accounts. Free users get basic time tracking and Pomodoro features. Pro unlocks automatic activity tracking, detailed reports, distraction blocking, and unlimited data history. Try Pro free for 14 days.
